Elizabeth International took an initiative in 2017, to teach children village based elementary students subject like English around Bali. This is one amongst the several philanthropic projects that Elizabeth International runs. There is currently one outlet for Sekolah Matahari, but Elizabeth International plans on running several similar profit free projects across different villages in Bali.
Currently, Sekolah Matahari is implemented in Desa Penglumbaran Bangli, a small village on the outskirts of Bali. Here, the online classes are held twice a week in the Kantor Desa Penglumbaran. Elizabeth International recently finished building a library in the village for the students and equipped with full speed of wifi and hundreds of books. The best hotel institute also provides all financial aid that is required to run the project. The students learn under the Oxford program and hence they learn English directly from a native speaker which helps them with their vocabulary and pronunciation skills.
The students of Elizabeth International donate their books yearly for the students of Sekolah Matahari. The entire program takes three months to complete, as the classes are divided by levels. This way, each child learns the basics of technology and English very well from the start. First level is beginner or starter, where the teachers teach the basics and the very foundation of English. Once the students master the starter level, they are then promoted to intermediate. Here they learn a bit more complicated and complex nature of English language. Once the students master this level too they are promoted further. Due to the patient and careful teaching methods and techniques, the course ends in approximately three months.
The vision of this program is simple that Elizabeth International wants to open as wide as possible the access to education to these children, to help them gain their confident to have better hope for a better future.
